TL/DR: Learn how to give and get a massage.
After an intense workout or a stressful day, nothing can beat lying down and getting your kinks worked out, your knots loosened, your muscles stretched and your joints aligned. Raam, our favourite kalari teacher, in a sort of sequel to our Sitting, Standing, Walking and Lying Down event a month ago, will teach us how we can help each other in this respect.
PS: It's not required to have attended the previous session. Also, we actually didn't make it to Lying down, so we'll start with that this time.
This workshop is led by Raam Kumar R, a Kalarippayat practitioner, a Doctor of Alternative Medicine and a physical theatre practitioner with experience in experimentation with different movement vocabularies of dance, martial arts and somatic practices.
Shoonya - Centre for Art and Somatic Practices is a light-filled space surrounded by beautiful palm trees, in the heart of Bangalore on Lalbagh Road. Shoonya is a non-profit, established in 2014 with the aim of helping people further their journeys of self-discovery through deeper engagement with the arts and somatic practices. We host workshops, performances, open events, classes, film screenings, discussions, jams and more, and ensure that everything we do is done mindfully - with a whole lot of love, joy and warmth.
