Gathr play readings: Chekov's The Cherry Orchard with Shrikar

Sat, October 8, 2016,

2:30 pm–6:30 pm

Amateur Friendly Event (No Acting experience required :) )

Autumn is upon us. There is a crispness in the air and clear blue skies. Its only fitting that we gather at Cubbon Park for a play reading of The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov. Our Guest of Theatre, or GoT, will be Badarivishal along with co-host Shrikar Marur and we will begin with a small theatre workshop to help you loosen up.

We will bring the scripts, snacks and beverages. A small contribution of Rs 200 from your side would be welcome :)

The Cherry Orchard is a tragicomedy, hailed by many to be among Chekhov's finest plays. Set in 19th century Russia, it delves into cultural futility in a manner that will make you want to laugh and cry at the same time, and leave you pondering about the duality of our experiences.

This week's event's Guest of Theatre (GoT) is Badarivishal, a performance artist based out of Bangalore with experience as an actor, writer and director. A co-founder of the popular Bangalore theatre group Tahatto, Badarivishal has facilitated numerous theatre workshops at various levels. He enjoys travelling, reading, riding the metro and his time as a techie.

Our co-host is Shrikar Marur, a freelance film-maker, writer and actor based out of Bangalore. He enjoys carefully filtered coffee, plays read aloud and long drives to places that you wouldn't find on Google Maps.
